BVSO and BV Chorale Announce Season Schedules

Brazos Valley Chorale and Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra have both announced their upcoming season performances, and October is brimming with music.

Holiday Drama and More, 2017

Holiday drama isn’t always a good thing. Holiday family drama around the dining table, for instance. Or holiday shopping drama when trying to buy too-popular gifts. But you can find lots of opportunities for just the right type of holiday drama around the Brazos Valley of Texas this year. Check out these events for holiday drama, music, and entertainment during December 2017. Keep in mind that almost all the shows require or request reservations or advance ticketing.

Christmas Wonderland. Sneaking in just under the wire before December, Christmas Wonderland is presented by Texas A&M MSC OPAS on November 28 and 29. The show brings Broadway to the Brazos Valley through glittering costumes, a dazzling cast, and a high-kicking chorus line.

The Game’s Afoot: Holmes for the Holidays. From November 30 through December 16, StageCenter in Downtown Bryan solves a rollicking holiday Sherlock Holmes case. Set in 1936, a Holmes actor sets out to solve a murder that takes in his own homestead over the Christmas holidays.

Lennon: Through a Glass Onion. Okay, this one’s not exactly Christmas-related, but it’s an opportunity for entertainment in December. Presented by Texas A&M MSC OPAS, this play is a celebration of one of the most distinctive and insightful voices of a generation.

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. The incorrigible Herdman children are going to turn a church Christmas pageant inside out. On weekends from November 29 through December 3, Unity Theatre in Brenham presents this Christmas classic about realizing the spirit of the season.

Chaos at the North Pole. On the weekends of December 1-3 and 8-9, BV TROUPE in Bryan performs a world debut presentation of this new Christmas play. Santa’s elf workshop will never be the same.

A Tuna Christmas. Thurston Wheelis and Arles Struvie appear at Navasota Theatre Alliance in Navasota this year on December 7-10 and 14-17. The endearing and well-known duo will report on yuletide activities in the small Texas town of Tuna.

A Christmas Carol. First United Methodist Church in Bryan performs this classic Dickens tale on December 15-17. Most shows offer an opportunity for a meal to accompany the performance.

She Loves Me. A non-traditional holiday play shows up at The Theatre Company of BCS in Bryan on December 1-3, 8-10, and 15-17.  Inspired by the movie You’ve Got Mail (and earlier movie The Shop around the Corner), She Loves Me is an award-winning musical in itself.

Holiday Pops. The popular Holiday Pops concert by the Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra pops up on December 10.  This collaborative performance brings together BVSO with other musicians including organist James Faith, the Sanctuary Choir and Canticle Ringers of Christ United Methodist Church, and the College Station High School Varsity Women’s Choir. The Holiday Pops concert has become an annual favorite of the Brazos Valley.

A White Christmas. On December 11, Bryan-College Station can expect a white Christmas no matter what the weather forecast, when the Brazos Valley Chorale brings A White Christmas to life through song. Held at Christ the Good Shepherd Chapel in Bryan, the concert is hosted by BV Chorale and also features the St. Joseph Catholic High School Choir…and audience members, too…singing favorite holiday tunes.
